1) WI Long Term Care-Liability Insurance Coalition releases mission statement Wage and Hour info From WALA Member Steve Mercaitis of Lori Knapp A coalition, which includes WALA, formed to seek solutions to the liability insurance crisis has released a final draft of the Coalition Mission Statement. Please note the supporters are a varied and diverse group and it is growing. Burt Wagner, attorney, is now actively working with the Trial Attorneys trying to get support. A non-economic cap bill is currently being circulated at the Capitol. To date 46 legislators have signed as co-sponsors. A few of the Insurance Coalition members will be meeting with Democratic members to fully explain the initiative this week. If you haven't done so, make sure you personally contact your legislators for support. From all indications, passage of this legislation would be necessary to insure and maintain a favorable climate in Wisconsin. The final phase of the initiative is completion of the Insurance Survey. The Counties Association and Aegis Insurance have volunteered to collate the information, and share the survey results with any insurance carrier willing to take a look at Wisconsin based organizations. The target date for completion of the survey is June 30th. A 50% response will be needed to get a snapshot of the favorable climate in Wisconsin. Many of you representing Chapter 50 Organizations and Personal Care Agencies will be contacted shortly for help on completion of the survey. 2) Wage and Hour information from the Department of Labor You may find it helpful, in researching Wage and Hour information for your employees or your self, to visit the Wage and Hour section of the Department of Labor web-site at www.wagehour.dol.gov or call them on their toll free number: 866-487-9243.
