1. WALA's DHS 83 Trainings are coming in April and May.
The new DHS 83 code for CBRFs is going into effect April 1, 2009. So WALA has decided to hit the road and bring training for the new code to you across the state. Below is more information about the trainings, but stay tuned to the WALA Website and to future blasts to get more information.
13 locations around the state
- Milwaukee Area (10 sessions)
- Fox Valley Area (6 sessions)
- Northern Area (2 sessions)
- Eastern Area (4 sessions)
- South Central Area (4 sessions)
4 hour sessions
- Morning sessions will be from 8a -12n
- Afternoon sessions will be from 1p-5p

2. WALA Spring Conference March 25-26, 2009. Early Bird Discount Extended!
Originally, WALA's early bird discount expired on February 20, but we have decided to extend the early bird discount until February 27 to say thank you for joining us, even in these hard economic times. Just mention this Blast and receive the $40 early bird discount.
3. Mandated Update to Facility Administrator Information - DQA 09-002 Memo
Attention CBRF Administrators! Make sure that you are grandfathered in ad an administrator for the new requirements per DHS 83.15(1) which states the new CBRF Administrator requirements by April 1, 2009!

The directory on the DHS website has been updated to identify the facility "administrator", where previously it identified this information as "contact person".
All CBRF licensees need to review their facility's information on the directory and update the Department with any changes, including the name of the administrator.
Administrators who are qualified under the current administrative code and listed on the Department's directory as of April 1, 2009, will be grandfathered in according the new DHS 83.15(2).
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO NOW...
Step One: Review your information on the Directory at http://dhs.wisconsin.gov/bqaconsumer/AssistedLiving/AsLivDirs.htm
Step Two: Notify the appropriate Bureau of Assisted Living Regional Office, in writing, with any changes to your administrator information. Information on regional office locations and county assignments may be found on the Departments Website at http://dhs.wisconsin.gov/bqaconsumer/AssistedLiving/ALSreglmap.htm
According to current code requirements [DHS 83.11(3) (d)], CBRF licenses shall notify the Department with seven (7) days of a change of administrator. When a licensee notifies the Department of a change of administrator, the licensee must also submit documentation verifying that administrator qualifications under current code requirements [DHS 83.12(2)] are met.
