Federal Requirement to Verify Citizenship and Identify of Medicaid Recipients

On June 21, WALA received a memo from DHFS Secretary Nelson on the new federal requirement to verify citizenship and identify of Medicaid recipients. As you can see, DHFS could not move until they received guidelines from CMS, the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This makes the July 1 deadline very close.

WALA will let you know as we hear more.

2. Resident-Focused Dining Coming to You in August

Person-centered care is the new vision of assisted living being promoted by consumers, regulators and advocates. Today’s residents and families are looking for personalized care, flexible programs and residences tailored to their specific needs.

Dining can be an important and visible way to show you are responding to changes in the market. Further, dining services has become increasingly important with the Bureau of Quality Assurance. A modern, up-to-date dining program is essential to assisted living excellence.

Join WALA as we travel around the state to bring you "Resident-Focused Dining: A Roundtable Discussion," our 2006 Lifestyle Regional Workshop. We will explore how you can bring person-centered care into your dining program, regardless of your size or licensure. Real-life challenges, such as incorporating therapeutic diets, will be addressed. This inexpensive half-day session will be held in Wausau on August 1, Eau Claire on August 2, Madison on August 3, Appleton on August 8, and Milwaukee on August 9.
